The Uovo is a self-tightening, uniquely resonate tenor saxophone ligature designed by Roberto's Winds. The piece is 3D printed using stereolithography machines, then cast in bronze from recycled church bells in Italy. The Uovo is itself a musical instrument, serving as a saxophone ligature and an acoustic chamber. Generating sympathetic resonance in its hollow interior, the Uovo enriches the entire sound palette by adding harmonics instead of deadening them, as happens with regular ligatures. It gets its name from it's egg-shaped shell.
